We had a picnic by the lake last night. With real burgers. The weather was stunning: I think Tuesday evening was celebrating right along with us.
This week, one word has been on my mind: Abide. As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you. Abide in my love. (John 15:9) This semester, God has shown Himself to be perfectly faithful yet again. The blood of Christ presents me as perfect before the throne, and it is my joyful duty to simply abide in my Savior and His all-sufficient strength. On my own, I can do nothing. And I am so glad that I am not commanded to do anything myself. I abide, and He sustains. I abide, and He works. I abide, and He gives inexpressible joy. I abide, and He brings salvation.
I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
And in His word I hope;
My soul waits for the Lord
More than watchmen for the morning,
More than watchmen for the morning.
(Psalm 130:5-6)

I am always encouraged by you, shannon. Can't wait til you come home
Freshman year almost done. Can you believe it? I go to school in the Fall. Can you believe it? Hey, why don't you come with us to Cornerstone this year? I know you'd adore it. I'd adore having you there. Think about it. I long to see you. I love education. This world is wonderous. Isn't it incredible that this world can be so good and lovely even though it's not the REAL thing? Heaven is billions times better? It's mind-blowing.
Love,
me
