What kind of woman do you want to be?

Caroline asked me this question this afternoon, and it really hit me. What kind of woman DO I want to be? Am I making the right choices and pursuing the things that will help me to become that woman?

By God's grace, I want to be a woman whose actions and words preach the gospel. I want my life to display "the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ." (2 Corinthians 4:6)

By God's grace, I want to be a woman that is growing in the "imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious." (1 Peter 3:4)

By God's grace, I want to "learn quietly with all submissiveness." (1 Timothy 1:11)

By God's grace, I want my speech to "always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer each person." (Colossians 4:6)

By God's grace, I want to learn to be "self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind and submissive to [my] own husband (sometime in the future, of course), that the word of God may not be reviled." (Titus 2:5)

By God's grace, I want the wisdom from above which is "first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere." (James 3:17)

By God's grace, I want to learn to "keep loving one another earnestly." (1 Peter 4:8)

May this all be for His glory, so that the cross becomes greater in mine and the eyes of those around me.

Jesus is so lovely in you.

Wonderful how each attribute you desire is accompanied with a Scripture. All of the guidelines for us as believing women are in the scriptures. So relieving. I love you for the woman of God that you are and the woman you desire to be <3

Wow. You got me thinking as well. Whatever woman I want to be, that woman has to be rooted in these beautiful passages you provided. I think the God-fearing, quiet woman is a force to be reckoned with and there are fewer and fewer to look to as role models in today's world. This is almost like a rally cry for female believers. I love it.
